Increased thrombotic burden is caused by hypercoagulability and platelet hyperactivity which are characteristics of COVID-19 infection. Wang, M.D., presents information from examination of platelet activation profiles of patients up to 16 months post-COVID-19 infection. The findings from this study provide early evidence given their elevated CD62P and CD36 levels for hyperactivated platelet phenotype in recovered COVID-19 patients.
